Meet Alex

I’m Alexandros Orestis, a longtime Eliot resident and former Chair of the Eliot Select Board. My public service has focused on the practical work of local government, balancing budgets, improving infrastructure, and making sure town services meet the real needs of families and seniors.
During my time on the Select Board, I worked closely with residents, town staff, and regional partners to address issues that directly affect daily life, from property taxes and capital planning to public safety and long-term sustainability. That experience gave me a clear understanding of how state decisions play out at the local level, and how important it is for Augusta to listen to the communities it represents.
I’m running for the Maine House of Representatives because I believe our state needs steady, community-focused leadership. Too often, policy debates lose sight of the people they are meant to serve. I bring a problem-solving approach grounded in local experience, careful budgeting, and a commitment to transparency and accountability.
My priorities include protecting access to healthcare, especially for seniors and families who rely on Medicaid, addressing affordability pressures like rising property taxes and cost of living, and supporting strong local communities through smart investments in infrastructure and public services. I believe Maine can meet these challenges without shifting the burden onto working families or leaving towns to fend for themselves.
Above all, I believe government works best when it is accessible, thoughtful, and focused on results rather than rhetoric. As a state representative, I will work to ensure that policies are practical, fiscally responsible, and shaped by the voices of the people they affect.
I would be honored to earn your support and the opportunity to represent District 150 in the Maine House.
