Meet Alex

I’m Alexandros Orestis, a longtime Eliot resident, husband, father of three, and member of the Eliot Select Board, where I have also served as Chair.

Maine is home for a lot of reasons, but one of the biggest is the outdoors. I surf year-round, hunt, fish, and spend as much time outside as I can. I have a deep appreciation for the woods, rivers, coastline, and communities that make this part of Maine such a special place to live. I want my kids, and the generations that follow them, to have the same opportunities to enjoy this state that I have had.

My time in local government has given me a firsthand understanding of the issues families and towns face every day. I have worked on budgets, infrastructure, public safety, property taxes, land use, and the long-term planning that goes into keeping a community strong. It has also shown me how often decisions made in Augusta directly affect what happens at the local level.

I’m running for the Maine House because I believe our district deserves a representative who understands those connections and who approaches the job practically.

My priorities are straightforward: making Maine more affordable for working families and seniors, protecting access to healthcare, supporting strong public schools, investing responsibly in our roads and infrastructure, protecting Maine’s natural resources, and making sure communities like Eliot, Kittery, and South Berwick have a strong voice in Augusta.

I don’t believe every problem needs a complicated solution, and I don’t believe good ideas belong to one political party. I believe in listening to people, asking questions, doing the homework, and being willing to work with anyone who is serious about getting something done.

Public service has always been about the community for me. I would be honored to have the opportunity to represent District 150 in the Maine House.
